Re-drafting of Information Technology Bill in Venezuela (Day 8)

Things are heating up in the re-drafting of the Information Technology Bill. The group that is working in the new draft is approaching the Article 75. This is the Article that says that in the Venezuelan Government Free and Open Source Software will have preference over proprietary software. On Friday, May 5, they discussed Article 51 only (it has 37 clauses). This Article talks about the functions of CONATI (the organization that is going to rule the Information Technology in the Public Administration). The key addition to this Article was proposal for the creation of a National Software Repository for the use of the Public Administration. They are resuming the discussions today. I will be reporting as soon as I get more news.
