A new consortium to promote the use of Free and Open Source Software in Latin America

The 7th International Forum on Free and Open Source Software was the birth place of LATINUX, a consortium created to promote the development and use of free and open source software in Latin America. The organizations that integrate this consortium are: Propus and Solis from Brazil, Corvus Latinoamerica, and ISEIT from Venezuela, Red Boricua from Puerto Rico, and Alacos from the USA. These companies are recognized leaders in the development of free and open source software solutions.

LATINUX’s goals include:

  • sharing knowledge and experiences,
  • promoting the use of free and open source software,
  • collaborating with the organized free and open source software communities, and
  • providing support for the products and services developed by its members.

In the near future, it is expected that organizations from Argentina, Peru, and Chile will join LATINUX.
